Objective
In a corporate landscape often characterized by hectic schedules and limited opportunities for employees to engage in meaningful social initiatives, there exists a pressing need to bridge the gap between corporate social responsibility and individual employee participation.
The Ask
Our challenge was to create a user-centric social app that
- Seamlessly integrates into the busy lives of corporate professionals
- Empower them to make a difference in the community,
- Share their experiences with colleagues, and foster a culture of altruism within the organization
This case study explores the journey of designing and implementing this innovative solution, aimed at addressing the social engagement gap while promoting a sense of purpose and collaboration among employees
Researching Social Media Trends for App Design
While developing our social app for corporate social responsibility, we conducted research to align with current social media trends and mental models. This ensured our app met user expectations and integrated seamlessly into the digital landscape. Here is how we conducted our research.
Focus Areas of Research
- User-Centric Analysis
We began by delving into the user personas of corporate professionals, understanding their preferences, habits, and expectations. - Competitor Analysis
We studied various social media platforms and apps to identify emerging trends, features, and design elements. - Trend Identification We kept a close eye on evolving trends in social media, such as ephemeral content, storytelling, and community engagement.
- Mental Model Alignment
We analyzed the flows from various social platforms, which helped us minimize cognitive load and maximize user engagement
Visual Designs
A low-fidelity design prototype was formulated with the aim of presenting initial design impressions and securing approval for the user flow.
Usability Testing for Optimal User Experience
In creating our user-centric CSR app, a top priority was delivering an exceptional user experience. To achieve this, we employed online usability testing for real user feedback
User-Centric Testing with Diverse Profiles
In our quest for user-centric design, we interviewed 20 professionals from various departments and levels, offering valuable insights. We assessed our app through scenario-based testing, where users engaged in real interactions, navigating, completing tasks, and sharing experiences.
Real-Time Feedback
Usability testing tool enabled us to collect real-time feedback, including video recordings of users’ interactions, screen captures, and audio commentary. This comprehensive data allowed us to understand not only what users did but also why they did it.
Analysis and Iteration
We iteratively refined our app’s design and functionality based on user feedback from multiple rounds of usability testing. This holistic approach combined quantitative metrics like task success rates with qualitative insights from user comments and observations, ensuring comprehensive usability enhancements.
